In the 50s it was believed that watching TV in a room with a low light source could make you go blind. These lamps were developed to alleviate people’s fears.
I love these Siamese Kitty lamps. There were so many different models made as TV lights. I never understood why some of the cats were so tall as the tall one here because they usually had see-through eyes that glowed from the backlighting but the tall cats were too high to achieve the effect.

I do have another TV lamp where the light shines “eye holes”. The chain is connected to a wonderful pair of vintage hanging ceramic lamps we bought at a yard sale for a few bucks. I will friend you on Facebook, and you can look at my photo album called “Things I Collect”. There is a small sampling of some of my collections.
