These little puppies lit up our lives in and around SF until the late 80’s when they tore them all down. I was really sorry because me and my high school posse had promised to meet in 20 years at the Doggie Diner on VanNess. Of course the posse broke up when our point of reference, the great dachshund in the sky was lost. (photo credit: Al Pal)

Okay, you could kill me now if only those dogs were mine! They are fantastic!! Did they just sit on the diner? Did they move or light up or anything? Doesn’t really matter though as they are completely unbelievable. I really would like to see them pups sitting on my roof right now. Do you know where they were being carted away to?

I loved DD – well actually I loved the idea and the kitsch factor (before I even knew what that was) more than the food, itself.
I used to go to the one on Geary and Arguello for special occasions!
